know it isn’t technically Wednesday yet, but we are heading out in the morning for the beach and I won’t have time to post. This is our first vacation in a very long time and I am looking forward to chilling on the beach with a good book, some knitting and watching Kage have a blast.

Kage the photographer

In an effort to find something to entertain Kage for a while, I gave him our old point and shoot camera. The camera is supposed to be shock resistant and water proof, so I hoped Kage wouldn’t do too much damage to it. Thankfully it is still in one piece although after he was done it was covered in sticky goo from something he ate.
Inca red quinoa and homemade pita bread

This dish was so good! It is a cold salad that is perfect for lunch or dinner on a hot summer day. It is a slight variation on the recipe from The Nourishing Gourmet. I make my own version of Mexican Quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) that is really good, but I was getting bored of it [...]
Kage’s Vocab Quiz

I thought I would try out posting a video for the first time. Excuse the test post if you got it.
While I was filming the kids the other day I ended up having an impromptu vocab quiz with Kage. He repeats just about everything we say (not always a good thing when you aren’t [...]
Getting a ride with the laundry

After folding all the clean diapers today, I needed to put them away. I didn’t want to make two trips from the living room – one with the basket and one with Ember. The basket of diapers was looking really soft and squishy and Ember looked to be the right size… so in she went. I think she enjoyed the ride.

In an effort to use up some of the very old yarn in my stash and to also knit something different for a change, I started working on a market bag using some cotton yarn.
Got nut milk?

Ember is six weeks old today and things are starting to get a little easier. I am finally getting the energy to cook more from scratch and getting back into eating a healthy, whole foods diet and eating more raw foods too. I totally fell of the wagon so to speak during my pregnancy.
Bedtime Stories

There once was a little boy named Kage, who was about your very same age. Every day he would wake up and then rush outside to play with his favorite ball. He would spend all day long out in his back yard kicking the ball as far as it would go.

This week was very productive. I completed several projects. The first and largest project being the 12 fitted diapers for Ember that have been haunting me for the past few months. I am so very glad to have these done. I think from here on out I need to do smaller batches at a time. Sewing 12 at once was hard because it took so long to see results. I need quicker gratification than that.
Playroom Update

I am so excited. The playroom is coming along, finally! We got the playstands last week and Bruce put them together. I need to glue the canopy frame still and put that up, but at least the majority of the work is done. It fits perfectly in the space with really only an inch to [...]
